Our client is a global leader in the creation, production, distribution, licensing and marketing of home entertainment and related products with its headquarters in the United States.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Senior Vice President Asia Pacific

THE PROFILE
This is a newly created role and will have overall responsibility for the China operation. As a key member of the senior management team, he/she will play a key role as an advisor on an array of business decisions (ranging from operations to business development opportunities) in China in addition to ensuring successful market entry and exponential growth in the PRC.

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualities/attributes:

Ideal Experience

Demonstrated track record of increasingly progressive levels of responsibility with a global consumer oriented company, known for the quality of its organization. Experienced in high volume, low margin mass distribution industries where product has moved through various distribution channels, including mass market, specialty, niche retailers and/or distributors.
A proven record of success in managing a large-scale multiple-SKU consumer product company, preferably in a creative content business such as: recorded music, home video, toys, cosmetics, book publishing or computer software.
Strong operating and management skills. The ability to influence the operational functions of the business (e.g. manufacturing and information systems). The ability to function as a true partner with the Regional Senior Vice President and other senior managers.
Advanced degree, preferably MBA from major recognized institution is desirable. CPA is preferable.

Speak and write English fluently, in addition to Mandarin.
A team player with strong communication and organizational skills and ability to multitask in an entrepreneurial environment.
Articulate, analytical, intelligent, presentable and professional, yet personable.
Energetic, hardworking, possess a sense of urgency to get things done and is result oriented.
Hands-on style, an individual who likes to get involved in working on problems to develop solutions; to challenge the status quo and to improve operating efficiencies whenever possible.
Savvy business acumen. Good financial technical skills, while possessing a broad business overview and perspective.
Good verbal and written presentation skills. Self-motivated, details oriented, with strong sense of responsibility and good communication skills.
Well organized. Ability to develop, synthesize, analyze and communicate information to support and guide executive management team in decision-making.
Flexible personality. Able to work well with diverse personalities and cultures. Ability to gain instant credibility with a wide range of people. Strong interpersonal skills with collaborative style.
Good communicator and a good delegator.
Willing to travel 60% of the time.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
The successful candidate will be charged with:

Direct all issues affecting the business in China from Sales and Marketing to the review of the Budget, Forecasts, Ultimates and Revenue Reports on a periodic basis.
Direct the planning, implementation and execution of marketing promotions and sales programs within China.
Formulate acquisition plan for local language product and/or libraries for regional distribution.
Responsible for arousing the market awareness of the Company’s brand in the PRC.
Formulate and execute a corporate communication and government relations strategy to ensure the Company’s vision, strategy and goals are communicated to the Chinese government and the industry on an ongoing manner.
Continue to build on the personal relationships within the industry, which have already been established, thereby increasing the Company’s success within the PRC market.
Update Senior Management regarding the latest developments in the PRC, which affect business.
Responsible for reviewing existing structure and information capabilities and needs. Identify and direct the execution of structural and procedural changes to drive profitability through revenue generation or cost reduction.
Direct the overall financial and operation direction for the Company including planning, budgeting, production, purchasing, and inventory management.
Prepare presentations for the Regional Senior Vice President, the home office, the parent company and other constituencies, as required. Prepare financial, analytical and interpretive reports including periodic financial plans and forecasts (which include evaluation of financial prospects for existing operations as well as new projects).
Effectively lead China. Manage, motivate, develop and/or recruit staff and ensure that they are of the highest quality possible and that their skills are maintained or enhanced. Foster an environment of teamwork.
Direct the development and implementation of sales strategies, forecast policies and programs designed to maximize sales. Develop and monitor sales campaigns and review sales reports and trends.
Advise the Regional Senior Vice President in an array of business matters. Manage special projects as required, i.e. assessment of new short and long term business opportunities and evaluation of assorted contract negotiations. Support major business decision-making regarding investments, analyze manufacturing and inventory control issues, evaluate and analyze alternative distribution methods (e.g. mail order, special markets).
Keep pace with the demands of a rapidly changing business environment; to provide leadership, to anticipate problems and to formulate solutions under a dynamic market condition.
